15 Must Haves in Your Makeup Bag

By  |  0 Comments

Every now and then it’s good to take inventory of our makeup collection and what’s in our makeup bag. Do you feel like you are stuck in the same habits and routines? Have you cleaned out your makeup bag lately? Do you need help packing your travel bag?

Here’s a list of my makeup “Must-Haves” in my Makeup Bag…

 1. Cosmetic Bag

Choose a makeup bag for your needs. I like something with a hard case so it protects my products from breaking. I received my case from a local department store during one of their events. Most cosmetic stores host fun events for their clients. Next time you go shopping, ask your beauty specialist to be on their event list!

2. Tools

There are so many great brushes out there to choose from. Make sure you have brushes to apply foundation, powder, eye shadows, etc. Make sure to sanitize after each use and deep clean with a brush bath, but make sure that you always have them in your makeup bag.

Here are a couple links for my favorites brushes that I must have in my makeup bag…

  • Trish McEvoy Brushes

  • Crown Brush

3. Makeup Remover

It’s always best to take off your makeup before you cleanse your face at night. This is a “must-have” in your makeup bag especially for those mistakes while doing your makeup in a hurry!

I was introduced to this amazing cleansing water recently at a makeup show…check it out!

  • Bioderma: Sensibio H2O

4. Tweezers

Always keep tweezers in your makeup bag so you never have to conceal those overgrown eyebrows!

5. Primer

The first step to a flawless face is primer. There are many different types of primers on the market to choose from. Some are created for glowing skin, some are made to blur pores, and some control oil and shine. Discover a primer for your skin type! I love this spray primer that controls oil since it’s been so humid out lately. It’s light and controls my oil to keep my makeup on all day!

  • Makeup Primer Spray

6. Concealer

Do you suffer from dark circles under your eyes? Did you wake up with a blemish? Make sure to pack your concealer for extra coverage! Here’s what I use…

  • Concealer Correcteur Perfection

7. Foundation

Finding a perfect foundation can be challenging…there are many formulas and colors out there!

Don’t be afraid to splurge a little when choosing your foundation. Healthy skin is always in!

If you don’t know what shade you might be…visit a professional makeup artist for a consultation. They will help you find the right shade and finish to compliment your natural beauty. Here’s what I use for a natural glow…

  • Makeup Foundation

8. Setting Powder

The secret to keeping your foundation on all day is to set with a powder.

There are also powders for any skin type…full coverage, light coverage, transparent, etc.

Here’s my favorite powder…

  • Setting Powder

9. Highlight & Contour Powder

Bring out your beautiful features by contouring and highlighting. There are many different ways to apply these powders. The key is to discover your face shape and apply where you want to define! My favorite palette is by Anastasia Beverly Hills…

  • Makeup Contour Kit

10. Eye Shadow Primer

Before you touch your eye shadow brushes…make sure you apply eye shadow primer to your eyelids. This will help your shadow last all day, keep it from creasing, and enhance the true pigmentation of your shadow.

I love the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Pencil

11. Eye Shadow Palette & Blush

Eyes are the windows to your soul…let’s make them pop! The best way to accentuate your eyes is to use neutrals. Neutral shadows are a must-have for ANY eye color! Make sure the shadows are highly pigmented so you can see the true color without spending hours blending. I found an awesome palette that also carries blush. I love simplicity!

12. Eyeliner

Say goodbye to raccoon eyes! Using a waterproof eye liner is essential when applying your makeup! (And not ALL waterproof liners are REALLY waterproof!) I’ve tried so many and this one is a WINNER!

Here’s my favorite…

  • Eyeliner

13. Mascara

Who doesn’t love full, voluminous lashes?! Mascara is a MUST! Lashes can make or break your look. Make sure to keep your mascara fresh and sanitary! (Never share!) Don’t forget to toss that tube after 3 months…using old mascara can lead to eye infections.

Here’s my FAVORITE mascara of ALL time…

  • Mascara

14. Brow Pencil

Brows can frame and lift the eyes. The hottest trend right now, is a natural thick brow. Follow the natural shape of your brow and then create a symmetrical shape. (Remember…they are sisters – not twins.) There are many brow products on the market to choose from…powders, pencils, pomades, gels, etc.

Here’s my favorite…

  • Brown Definer

15. Nude Lip

What lip color goes with EVERYTHING? A nude lip! Find a shade that compliments your skin tone and enhances your total look. Start off with a liner to define the lips. Fill the lips with your favorite lipstick and then top it off with a gloss!

Here are a few of my favorite lip products…

  • Lipstick

  • Lip Gloss

Now that you have your makeup “must-haves”…don’t forget to take good care of your skin! A morning and evening skin care routine will keep your skin looking young and healthy. If you don’t know what products to use, visit your local dermatologist or esthetician for recommendations.
